IASAS SOCCER 2022 OPENING CEREMONYFrom the moment the first whistle blew yesterday morning, it has been game on here at ISKL, with the 2022 IASAS Soccer Championships well and truly underway! The atmosphere is absolutely fantastic – our campus is filled with visiting teams from the other five IASAS schools, our community is here to welcome their friends and family who’ve come to KL to support them, and our own Panther supporters are in the bleachers dressed in yellow and blue and here to cheer. The IASAS spirit is truly unbelievable and we could not be more proud of our students, school, and community.

At the same time, we know that the same IASAS spirit and hospitality are being enjoyed by our Volleyball and Cross Country teams competing at the International School Bangkok. Regardless of whether our athletes are competing at home or away, we are so proud of the skills, passion, and sportsmanship our Panthers are demonstrating both on and off the field. We know from our alumni that the IASAS experience of camaraderie, intercultural cooperation, and friendly competition is remembered long after the scores become a distant memory and we are so happy to once again be able to share this unique experience with our community and sister schools around the region.

During the course of the Championships, it has been a great joy to meet up with both visitors from IASAS schools and our community alike and to hear their stories of the fun of hosting visiting athletes and being hosted, reconnecting with old friends, and catching up with faculty, staff, and alumni here to cheer on our Panthers. It has also been very special to see our younger students supporting our Panthers from the sidelines and the tireless efforts of our student volunteers who are doing all they can to help out on the fields and behind the scenes.

As with everything we do at ISKL, our entire community has been involved from PTA Booster parents taking such wonderful care of our visitors, parents supporting our teams, our social media reporter keeping us updated, videographers and photographers recording it all, tech, facilities, health and security teams working around the clock to make it happen – thank you, everyone! It really is a whole community effort and we are so proud and grateful. If you haven’t had the chance to come and experience the amazing IASAS spirit yourself, bring the family and join us tomorrow for a fantastic day of soccer tomorrow. The games start at 8:00 am!

As always, there is so much going on at ISKL and in addition to sport, our students have also been putting their passion and skills into practice with music, debate, and diplomacy. Our congratulations to the students who participated in the Mini-Model United Nations last weekend, our HS Choir students, and HS performers who performed at the Bangkok International Choral Festival and the on campus HS Talent Night respectively last week. Plus we can’t wait to see the HS performance of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe next week!

In the meantime, a reminder that there is no school on Monday, October 10 in lieu of the public holiday for the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday on October 9. I wish our Muslim friends and families Salam Maulidur Rasul, trust everyone has a relaxing weekend, and hope to have the opportunity to share the wonderful IASAS spirit with you on campus tomorrow.

Go Panthers!

In partnership
