School and the educational experience can have an indelible impact on a child’s identity. In this edition of VOX ISKL, DEIJ Lead, Joel Jr. Llaban, was joined by international expert Daniel Wickner for a presentation and discussion about nurturing student identity through Identity-Centered Learning.

Daniel shared with parents and educators joining from around the world how the concept provides a framework that supports student identities, creates a nurturing learning environment, and helps students gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their community, and their world. The session included a panel discussion with ISKL educators, Chris Neylan, Ebony Manning, and Karen Callahan, exploring the implications and challenges associated with Identity-Centered Learning and advice for nurturing evolving student identities. The video of the session can be found on ISKL’s Youtube and Spotify channel.

VOX ISKL is a thought leadership initiative created to share learning and ignite conversations about important topics such as diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) within ISKL and the wider community.
