The return of students to on campus learning continued this week with Grade 1, 2, 3, and 9 students joining us. The transition is going well with students settling into the routine of in person learning and following SOPs. It is a joy to see our learners back in their classrooms and to hear the sound of laughter filling the corridors once again. Next Monday, when we finally have all grades back on campus, will be a day to truly treasure and it will be wonderful to have students “home” with us here at ISKL. For those still located overseas or opting for Off Campus Online Learning, we hope you will be able to join us soon.

Elementary Rooftop Playground

Our Elementary Rooftop Playground is really starting to take shape. The monkey bars, swings, and low ropes course have now been completed and adventure lies ahead for students when the playground opens next month with a range of activities homing in on balance, upper body strength, and, of course, fun.

Over the past couple of weeks, the first palms, ferns, and climbing species have been planted, starting to create the green oasis we are all so looking forward to sharing with our young students. It’s not long until large mature trees will be craned onto the rooftop to complete the picture. Natural softwood mulch is also being installed to ensure a soft fall and maximum safety. The Sim Leisure team is working now on our rope climbing structures that will connect to the two-level towers and will soon start work on the climbing wall.

Last Day for our Vaccination Centre

Today (November 5) was the last day for our Vaccination Centre and we were honored to receive a visit from  Datuk J.L. Solomon, Executive Chairman of NGT Solutions (M) Sdn Bhd, who presented us with a plaque and expressed his appreciation to ISKL for our support and cooperation to ensure the smooth running of the Vaccination Centre for the wider community.

Here’s an overview of what has been achieved since the Centre opened on September 29:

  • More than 11,000 first and second-dose vaccines have been administered.
  • Over 100 private and international schools were able to send students to be vaccinated.
  • We vaccinated students from 14 different NGO and refugee organizations
  • Over 95 volunteers from ISKL and other schools in the area gave up their time to help.
  • In addition to the team at ISKL, the following organizations worked together to help and make the Centre a reality: Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, District Health Office, NGT Solutions (a private medical subsidiary of the MoH), and our bus contactor Pandu Jaya who provided busing services for students from refugees organizations.

The Vaccination Centre has been a wonderful example of community partnership in action and once again, I thank everyone involved for their help, support, and time.  We simply could not have done it without you!
