Two Malaysian students were awarded four-year scholarships to study at The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) at a special award ceremony held on April 22, 2024

ISKL’s innovative Pathways Scholarship recipients were Amirthen Yohann Sinnapar and Aw Li Yeen.

Amirthen is a current student at SMK Desa Cempaka, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, and Li Yeen a student at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4), Kuala Lumpur. The two scholarship recipients will join ISKL’s student body of over 1,700 students representing more than 70 nationalities at the start of the school’s academic year in August 2024.

This is the third year ISKL has offered the merit and needs-based ISKL Pathways Scholarship, which provides two Malaysian students who have completed Form 3 with a four-year period of study from Grade 9 to Grade 12.

The award ceremony was attended by Encik Mohd Suffian Bin Mahmud, Principal Assistant Director of the Policy and Governance Unit, Puan Radzita Radzi, Deputy Director of Education from the School Management Sector in Kuala Lumpur, and Encik Mohammad Nor Afidzi bin Nor Mohammad, Assistant Director from the Ministry of Education’s Private Division.

Encik Mohd Suffian Bin Mahmud presented the recipients with their certificates and commented, “I am impressed by the exceptional standard showcased by these two inspiring young people. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to them on the hard work and commitment that has led to them being awarded this scholarship and opportunity.”

Mr. Rami Madani, ISKL’s Head of School, thanked the Ministry of Education for its ongoing support and highlighted that the scholarship program is integral to ISKL’s community partnership.

Mr. Madani congratulated the scholarship recipients, saying, “Beyond your academic accomplishments, what particularly impressed our scholarship interview panel were your aspirations and commitment to making a positive impact on your community and the world. Your diverse interests and passion for helping others are inspirational and align with ISKL’s Vision, Mission, and Values. We look forward to welcoming you and your families into our school community and are confident, like the scholars who have gone before you, that you will enhance our school.”

Recipients of the Pathways Scholarship benefit from the flexibility of ISKL’s innovative High School study options, which include the option to undertake the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Grades 11 and 12.

In addition to an appropriate scholastic level, students were required to demonstrate their alignment with ISKL’s Vision and Mission at a panel interview by showcasing their passion for creating a positive impact on local communities, understanding of global issues, and proven experience with a cause they believe is fundamental to societal progress.
