Welcome to the Start of the New School Year at ISKL - 2026-2027

There is nothing quite like the energy that comes with the start of a new school year at ISKL. Since the school year began last Wednesday, familiar faces have reconnected, new Panthers have received a warm welcome, and our community has settled into the rhythm of 2026-2027.

Last week, the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) was delighted to welcome more than 1,800 students and their families for the new academic year. Representing over 60 nationalities, our vibrant community brings together a rich diversity of cultures, experiences, and perspectives.

As we settle into the new academic year, faculty and staff are focused on welcoming students, building connections, and creating a positive foundation for the year ahead. From returning Panthers reconnecting with friends and teachers to new students forming friendships and becoming familiar with their classrooms and routines, the campus has been filled with energy and connection. Orientation Day: A Warm Panther Welcome

Panther spirit was on full display as ISKL welcomed more than 300 new students and their families to Orientation Day, giving them an opportunity to connect with the community before the first day of school.

Orientation is designed to help our newest community members feel informed, supported, and connected from the moment they arrive. Students and families were welcomed by ISKL representatives, explored the campus, located classrooms, met key faculty members, and heard from the Head of School and School Principals. Sessions also introduced the daily routines and practical information that will help families navigate the school year with confidence.

At ISKL, we know that starting at a new school can feel overwhelming and that first impressions matter. Every member of our community has been new at some point, and a positive introduction can help students feel secure, develop confidence, and begin building a sense of belonging. Our newest Panthers are joining a community who are here to support them.

Our Peer Helpers play an important part in that welcome, answering questions, sharing their experiences, and helping new students become familiar with school life. In High School, Student Ambassadors also offered practical advice during a dedicated Orientation session, providing new students with a valuable point of connection before classes began.

Supporting Every Transition

Support for new families extends well beyond Orientation Day. Transition is a key priority at ISKL and one we approach with empathy and understanding. Throughout the year, counselors, transition committee members, faculty, and dedicated teams work together to help every student and family feel welcomed, valued, and connected.

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) also plays an invaluable role in helping families form meaningful relationships. Through its welcome at Orientation Day, community events, and ongoing initiatives, the PTA creates opportunities for families to meet, share their cultures and stories, and begin making ISKL feel like home.

Orientation Day also reinforces one of the foundations of an ISKL education: the partnership between school and families. Student success is a shared responsibility, strengthened through respectful communication, trust, and collaboration.
