Welcome to a New School Year at ISKL!

Ushering in the new academic year in ES, MS. HS

Welcome to 2025–2026!

Last week, The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) campus was once again filled with energy and excitement as our 1,800+ students started the new 2025–2026 academic year. Whether reconnecting with friends, making new ones, or settling into a new routine, the start of the year was filled with Panther positivity.

Orientation Day: Starting Strong

For our 350+ new students and their families, school started a day earlier with divisional orientation sessions and a welcome to ISKL’s dynamic and inclusive community. From Early Childhood through High School, families had the opportunity to hear from our Head of School, their children’s Principals and teachers, explore classrooms, and get to know one another. New Elementary students were treated to a special welcome ice cream, making their Orientation day even more memorable.

Our team of student Peer Helpers was on hand to help our newest Panthers find their way around, provide support, and reassure them that it’s okay to feel nervous – everyone has been new at some point! Our Peer Helpers are an essential part of ISKL’s school-wide transition program, designed to support new students as they adjust to the new school environment. Transition affects everyone in different ways, including those leaving and staying, and our team of counselors and two educational psychologists provides school-wide transition support year-round.

Members of ISKL’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) also played an essential role during Orientation, welcoming parents and answering their questions. It was a fantastic display of ISKL’s friendly and welcoming community, ensuring new families feel supported and at home.

Carrying Forward Meaningful Traditions

As we embraced the start of the new school year, we also reflected on the special moments and our annual traditions that brought last year to a close.

In June, Senior Clap Out was a touching farewell for our Grade 12 students as they made their final walk through campus, cheered on by teachers, peers, and staff. It was a moving celebration of their impact on the ISKL community as they embark on the next learning journey that lies ahead.

Equally meaningful was the School-wide Clap Out on the last day of school, where every division lined the hallways to celebrate one another, with students, families, and employees all included. This joyful tradition honors both departing students and employees, reinforcing the strength of our connected community.

In June, we also recognized Grade 5 and 8 students with “Moving On” ceremonies as they celebrated their final year in Elementary and Middle School. It’s been exciting to see these students start the next chapter of their learning journey in a new division this week, ready for the new opportunities ahead.

From farewells to first days, these moments reflect what ISKL is all about: community, care, and supporting every learner at every stage.
