The Spirit of ISKL’s iFest - Where Belonging Matters

We are often asked what makes ISKL’s community so special, and our response is simple: unity.  The word International in our school’s name is a true statement of who we are and how we pursue a culture of growth, with diversity at the forefront of our identity. A strong sense of belonging is felt by every member of our community, especially during our International Festival (iFest).

This beloved ISKL celebration has honored the spirit of internationalism for many years. It has evolved from a student-led initiative into what it represents today: a gathering of 5,000 community members from 60 nationalities. Each individual involved in or attending this event reflects our deep, committed acknowledgement of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

This year’s iFest, held on November 29, 2025, transformed the ISKL campus into a vibrant mirage of culture. Led by PTA iFest Chair, Juliana B., and her team of parent volunteers,  the event is designed to bring joy, connection, and shared experiences to everyone who walks through the doors of ISKL. She tells us that her involvement “is a way to add value to the community”.

Reflecting on the day, Juliana says:

Wrapping up my second (and final) year as iFest Chair, my heart is overflowing with joy. What an incredible celebration our communities and PTA Leads created together. The vibrant Flag Parade, cute cultural activities, incredible performances, endless bazaar options, delicious food, beautiful raffle baskets, and exciting raffle prizes - so many wonderful moments and best of all, happy faces.

As Juliana shared, iFest truly offered something for everyone. Highlights included:

• The food stalls were an international showcase of culinary dishes from over 30 countries. Home-cooked to perfection, and a true opportunity to discover many different cuisines.
• Cultural performances that included traditional dance, music, and stage showcases, each symbolising ISKL’s open and honest pride in its heritage and identity.
• The iconic International Flag Parade celebrating ISKL diverse community.
• The raffle and silent auction , which were much-anticipated opportunities for ISKL supporters to win amazing prizes and beautifully curated baskets, all donated and sponsored by wider community members and local businesses.
• Halls filled with local vendors, artisans, representative students, and charity organizations offering attendees a mix of creativity, entrepreneurship, and service opportunities.
• Areas where younger students were entertained and treated to a specially designed Haunted House, an obstacle course in the Jungle, and opportunities to capture memories in the photobooth.
• Avid readers enjoyed the used book sale, scrolling through a wide range of books covering stories from around the world to life, igniting curiosity and imagination for people of all ages.

iFest genuinely lies at the heart of ISKL. It is an annual reminder of our longstanding traditions that continue to be strengthened by the support of volunteers, families, faculty, staff, and, most especially, our students.  After more than half a century, we continue to honor culture, recognize our diverse community, and ensure every Panther feels at home.
