Panthers of ISKL #349: Shasha Batrisyia - The Musical Panther
After doing some research about the school, I was truly impressed by its rich history, the breadth of its programs, and the entire school infrastructure. I was amazed to learn that ISKL is one of the top international schools in Malaysia, which made me even more excited and eager to be part of the community.
Meet Shasha Batrisyia, the PAC Team’s High School Music Instructional Assistant, who maintains a multi-tasking approach to fulfilling her valued role. Her ability to organize and ensure the smooth running of pre-event planning through to the execution of stage performances keeps her passionate about supporting and enriching the school’s music community.
Here is Shasha’s story:
Please tell us more about yourself.
Hi! My name is Khairunnisa Batrisyia, but most people call me Shasha (it’s much easier to remember). I was born in Kuala Lumpur and spent a few years in Brunei Darussalam before later moving to Ipoh, Perak. I hold a Bachelor of Music Business from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and have a background in event and business management, along with real-world experience in the Malaysian music industry. On the side, I also perform as a backup vocalist for Malaysian artists such as Masdo, Hael Husaini, Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza, Dayang Nur Faizah, Nadeera, Marsha Milan, Aisha Retno, and many others, as well as Taufik Batisah, a Singaporean artist. This work keeps me closely connected to the stage and the real world of music.
When and why did you join ISKL?
I joined ISKL in 2024, and I have a funny story about how it happened! My mom actually sent me the job application link and was very keen on encouraging me to apply for the High School Music Instructional Assistant position. After doing some research about the school, I was truly impressed by its rich history, the breadth of its programs, and the entire school infrastructure. I was amazed to learn that ISKL is one of the top international schools in Malaysia, which made me even more excited and eager to be part of the community.
Can you tell us more about your PAC position at ISKL? What are your daily activities and roles?
I work with the music department as a High School Music Instructional Assistant, supporting teachers during rehearsals and performances while helping students along the way. I get to be creative by designing posters, concert programs, social media content, and decorations that match each event’s style and mood, and I also take on roles as floor and stage manager during performances. On the practical side, I handle instrument setup and maintenance, organize logistics for concerts and events, coordinate with vendors, and manage communication, scheduling, and teaching resources to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
What is your overall vision for the upcoming semester, and how will your role support the PAC team?
My vision for the upcoming semester is to help the PAC team create smooth, engaging, and memorable music experiences. As a High School Music Instructional Assistant, I support teachers and students from pre-event planning to the final execution. By keeping everything organized and running smoothly behind the scenes, I help the PAC team focus on inspiring and enriching the school’s music community.
What is the most enjoyable and most challenging part of your job?
The most enjoyable part of my job is building my communication skills and broadening my creativity, from designing concert materials and decorations to supporting teachers and students during rehearsals and performances. I also love taking on hands-on roles like floor and stage management, helping events run smoothly, and seeing students grow. The challenge comes from working in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple tasks, and keeping everything organized behind the scenes. It can be demanding, but that’s also what makes it exciting and so rewarding every day!
Can you tell us more about your hobbies and interests? What do you do after work?
Lately, I’ve been diving into aquascaping. I have a small tank at both my office and at home. It’s surprisingly calming and a great way to unwind after a busy day. I’m also a big fan of nature, and I love going hiking whenever I get the chance. On weekdays, I hit the gym a couple of times a week to keep my body energized and fit.
Who or what inspires you?
Right now, I find inspiration in my own journey. I motivate myself by pushing my limits, trying new things, and working every day to become the best version of myself.
What is your most memorable moment so far working at ISKL?
One of my most memorable moments at ISKL was watching the High School Strings students perform “Slipping Through My Fingers.” The performance was so heartfelt that it brought tears to my eyes, as the song reminded me of my late grandfather. Another highlight was the High School Musical Mamma Mia, seeing the music and theatre departments work together, and witnessing the dedication of both teachers and students behind the scenes made it unforgettable.
Which of these Panther superlatives best describes you, and how does it show your Panther spirit?
I'm the Most Baik Panther (Baik means kindhearted) because I always remind myself to be thoughtful, caring, and supportive, so everyone feels comfortable and welcome around me. Kindness isn’t just a choice; it’s something that makes life better for everyone. Simple gestures of care, patience, and generosity as a Panther can make other Panthers’ lives easier, happier, and more welcoming.

ISKL feels truly special to me because it’s more than just a workplace; it’s a family. What I love most is how my colleagues are always ready to offer support, encouragement, and a helping hand, making every day here meaningful and uplifting.
