Panthers of ISKL #315: Juliana B. - The Helpful Panther

Elementary students swimming competition

I took the iFest chair role and feel happy doing this because the school is very open-minded, always supportive, and makes us feel welcome all the time.

Meet Juliana B., a dynamic force in the ISKL community! Hailing from Brazil, Juliana and her family joined ISKL in August 2024. She immediately established herself as a key member of the PTA and is now serving her second term as iFest Chair. It's a role she truly thrives in, channeling her passion and enjoying the energy of everyone around her.

Beyond her dedication to iFest, Juliana is a proven leader, having also successfully organized the Back to School Bash earlier this semester. She truly loves the meaningful roles she plays as both a parent and a volunteer.

Here is Juliana’s story

Can you tell us more about yourself?

I’m from Brazil and I have been moving around for the last 14 years, including Dubai, Houston, and Kuala Lumpur.

What year did your family join the ISKL community? What made you choose ISKL?

We have been an ISKL family since August 2024. I did some online research, and I also heard very good things about the school from our employer. I was so sure about my decision when I visited the school for the first time.

How has your experience as a parent at ISKL been?

So far, amazing. I wanted my child to be in an environment that is truly respectful and open-minded. For me, it was essential that there be no discrimination just because you might not belong to a certain culture. ISKL delivers on that promise.

Can you describe the ways you are involved within the ISKL community? Do you take part in any volunteer work at ISKL? What is your role in the organization of iFest?

Yes, I decided to join ISKL PTA as soon as the school year began. To me, it was a nice way to get to know the new culture and school, make friends, and keep myself busy, since I'm not working at the moment. I took the iFest chair role, and honestly, I feel very happy doing this because the school is very open-minded, always supportive, and makes us feel welcome all the time. I really love organizing and planning events. I do love the energy, the students' smiles, and working with amazing parents.

Can you offer any advice for new ISKL parents?

Just come and help us. It is an amazing environment.

Describe your most memorable moments at ISKL.

When I raised my hand volunteering for iFest!

What do you love most about ISKL?

The friendly atmosphere and the strong sense of community. As a parent, I can feel that I’m adding value, which is so nice. The school recognizes your time and your efforts. When a school values the entire family, it creates a wonderful environment that benefits my child as well.

Who or what inspires you?

Helping people inspires me.

Which Panther are you? Share why you chose this superlative and how it shows your Panther spirit!

I am the Most Onz Panther (Onz means nothing is impossible), and I feel that nothing is impossible for me!

I Suka (Like) ISKL …. Tell us why ISKL is special to you and what you like most about the school.

I Suka ISKL because of the school’s environment and the respect that staff and faculty show all students and parents, which makes ISKL so special to me.

What does ISKL’s vision, “Know yourself, care for all and create a better world,” mean to you?

It means helping others and doing better every day.
