Panthers of ISKL #286: Lochie H. (‘32) - The Sporty Panther
"PE is my favorite subject because I really enjoy sports, staying active, and doing movement-based activities.”
Meet one of our enthusiastic Grade 5 students, Lochie H. (‘32) who has been part of the ISKL community since Prep Senior. With roots in Australia and the United States and having previously lived in Hawaii, he brings a vibrant and global perspective to our school.
As he gets ready to move into Middle School, he reflects on favorite subjects, fun memories, and exciting goals for the future including dreams of joining the NBA and playing for the Lakers!
Here is Lochie’s story:
Tell us about yourself.
I joined ISKL in Prep Senior. I'm from Australia and America, and before coming to Malaysia, I lived in Hawaii.
What is your favorite subject and why?
PE is my favorite subject because I really enjoy sports, staying active, and doing movement-based activities.
What’s your go-to hangout spot on campus?
Definitely the four-square courts near the playground on the rooftop. It’s a great place to meet friends, hang out at the tables, and play sports like four-square.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned this year?
Something that made me say “whoa” was learning about condensation in science. I didn’t know that clouds – or condensation – could form on a cup just from cold and hot water. That was really cool!
What are your hobbies and interests?
My main interests are basketball and some other sports. I play basketball the most, and enjoy playing rugby quite often.
Do you take part in any After School Activities (ASAs)?
Yes! I’m in the band, and I play the trombone. I also play flag football, karate, and rugby. Flag football is probably my favorite, but I enjoy all the ASAs I've joined.
If you could switch places with anyone at school for a day, who would it be?
The principal! I could make the rules and maybe “chillax” a bit.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a basketball player in the NBA, specifically for the Lakers.
What’s a special memory from this school year you’ll never forget?
The Port Dickson Grade 5 trip was great! Exploring the caves and everything we did there was great overall.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
At first, I thought invisibility, but actually, I’d choose to be super smart. That way, I could invent things to help me be better at other stuff, like creating a machine for super strength or getting good grades.
You're heading to Middle School soon! What are you most excited about, and what will you miss about Elementary School?
I’m most excited about the freedom in Middle School and Malaysia Week, especially Survivor Island and the scuba diving trip. However, I’ll definitely miss the teachers the most from Elementary.
