"If I could only use one word to sum up my ISKL experience, that word would be perspective. Being exposed to styles of learning that are different from my old school, Penang Chinese Girls’ High School, opened my eyes to thinking from different perspectives. It taught me to question, to be curious. I learned how to think. ISKL’s values such as student-centred learning, openness and internationalism reflect on how our classes are carried out. The IB is arguably the most academically challenging Pre-university program. I came to ISKL knowing this, but until I was doing it myself, I didn't really know how enriching it could be. I can measure bacteria growth in kimchi, study Hamlet, learn French, and mathematically model representation of women in Malaysian parliament on the same day. Sometimes at the end of the day I'm just amazed by how much I did and learned in a day. No other program would give me the platform to do this. Putting the IB aside, the support I get from the school is what keeps me going. Last year, I co-organised ISKL's first TED Ed event. The administration and teachers were extremely helpful and supportive in making the event a success. ISKL's openness enabled us to challenge viewpoints and voice our own. Being a part of ISKL means being a part of something bigger than yourself. In this community, there's always a place for everyone to express themselves. I came, I saw, I grew."

"An unmissable opportunity- that is one thing I know for sure. At ISKL, through the IB Diploma, I never feel like I have to fit myself into a marking scheme or limit my thoughts to align with someone else’s ideals. It’s positively liberating. I cannot describe it any other way. You really learn; not because you have to, but because you want to. This curriculum and the way the school runs it compels you to think and explore your own ideas. What I find to be most amazing is how much effort is put into considering each student as an individual who has something to bring to the table; each a valuable member of the community. Here, we are challenged to juggle the vigorous curriculum whilst pursuing our own interests and passions. The amount of activities you are exposed to at ISKL is insane. It is through this vital balance that you get to incorporate your learning and simultaneously gain priceless experiences that you can only find out of the classroom. So, from the heart, Malaysian to Malaysian, if you want the chance to be more than what you’ve been taught to be, this an opportunity you must not miss. Awesome curriculum, fantastic teachers and exceptional experiences- go for it."

"It is my utmost pleasure to be able to share this experience with you, My name is Ryan and I am a scholar for ISKL’s Class of 2020 International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP). This scholarship has been an amazing opportunity for me to continue my studies after the local Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and is an exclusive ticket to future studies abroad such as in the United States of America and worldwide. The people and environment here at ISKL is definitely one of its own kind, and the very best of it too. My first few months here at school has been surrounded nothing less than warm, welcoming and hospitable friends. The teachers here are also professional and are always open to offer any form of assistance that may be required. As a whole, the community here at ISKL is one that is never short of friendliness and hospitality. It is truly a home to be. Though it has only been few months since the IB program has started for me, the knowledge and practical skills I have gained are far more than what I expected. Workload may sometimes be overwhelming, but it is effort worth sacrificing considering the knowledge and skills available to gain and how valuable the diploma is from the aspect of university application. Thank you to ISKL and the community here for this pleasant experience of the start to the IBDP program."
