Finding New Ways…

Family, fireworks, and festivities! Although 2021 celebrations to herald the Lunar New Year may not feature the large-scale reunions and travel we traditionally associate with time of year, as with all things, our new normal will be the catalyst for us to reframe, reflect and find new ways to do things. For all our families celebrating, I wish you Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Reflecting and looking for new ways to do things is the hallmark of a forward-thinking learning school like ours. We use a variety of means to do this, including surveys, focus groups, online information sessions, and our optional conversations. The feedback we gather helps us validate what is working well and identify areas for improvement.  Actively seeking the input of all stakeholders in our community – students, parents, faculty and staff – plays an important role in informing our decision-making. With such a diverse community representing a wide range of perspectives, gathering feedback each stakeholder enables us to triangulate the data and gain a school-wide perspective.

Thank you to the parents who volunteered to participate in our Strategic Planning focus groups and share their thoughts on the future of learning. To ensure we capture the voice of all parents in shaping our vision for ISKL, we will be sending a school-wide survey next week asking you to tell us about your hopes and aspirations for your child/ren and the kinds of attitudes, knowledge, skills and understanding that you believe will be important for your child to acquire. We will also be surveying our students, faculty, and staff to understand their views and to ensure our plan represents our entire community.  We will be talking more about strategic planning at our third HoS and Parents in Partnership session on Wednesday, February 17 via Zoom. All parents are welcome to join me to find out how we put our strategic plan into action in the classroom and its impact on us all.

A reminder that Monday is our In-Service Day, dedicated to professional development and ongoing learning for faculty and staff. School will resume on Tuesday, February 16 and I wish you all a relaxing five-day weekend.
