On August 23, 2024, ISKL held its inaugural Service & Sustainability Awareness Fair, where students, parents, faculty, and staff were invited to meet with our Community Service Partners at the Middle School cafeteria deck. Here, participants discovered and actively engaged in the Community Partner’s invaluable work and initiatives while learning more about project goals and opportunities to lend support.
Aligned with ISKL’s vision, “know yourself, care for all, and create a better world,” the fair deepened our community’s understanding of service and sustainability issues. By recognizing the power of collective action, we can all contribute to the broader cause and make a difference. ISKL’s ongoing Service and Sustainability (S&S) Program is a priority that addresses environmental issues, fosters sustainable living practices, and offers support to the broader community.
The main aim of the fair was to empower our community to get involved as volunteers, connecting them to give time and resources to help a cause or less fortunate communities, either by participating in environmental campaigns or becoming involved in charitable programs. On any level, helping others is a positive and powerful way to strengthen the fabric and well-being of our community, gaining a sense of belonging and fulfillment that inspires others to undertake the same responsibility and kindness.
Our Community Service Partners appreciate ISKL’s support, mostly the interaction with community members, as reflected in the testimonials below. Voluntering can make a significant difference in their work, and we are proud to share some of their stories.
As mentioned by our Head of School, Mr. Rami Madani: “Deepening service and sustainability learning is one of our key strategic priorities, and this (Service and Sustainability) fair offers a fantastic opportunity for our entire community to understand how service learning at ISKL empowers everyone to make a difference and contribute to our Vision of creating a better world.”
The ripple effect extends far beyond the fair itself, as participants take away their findings to influence others, reminding us that by uniting in our understanding, we can pave the way for a brighter and more promising future.
