Brian Candler '97

Director of Shared Services

Brian Candler has worked in the Technology Office and the office of Shared Services for the past 13 years. He enjoys being involved in many aspects of ISKL, solving problems, geeking out over some technology improvements, or just enjoying being part of this vibrant community. He is also coach of ISKL’s Varsity Swim Team.

Caroline Tan '87

High School English Teacher

Caroline always knew she wanted to teach English; it was her favorite subject as a student at ISKL. She attended ISKL for nine years, and then earned her undergraduate and Master’s degrees at California State University. She has been teaching at ISKL since 1997.

Yuka Kominato '98

Elementary EAL

Yuka is originally from Japan, but grew up overseas. She attended ISKL for 7 years, then completed undergraduate and Master's degrees at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Yuka enjoys teaching EAL to elementary students at ISKL, originally at the Melawati campus and now at Ampang campus. She has been teaching at ISKL since 2005.

Liesbet Recter '85

Middle School Counsellor

 Liesbet is a second generation ISKL teacher - her mother taught at ISKL too! Liesbet has two sisters who attended ISKL, and now Liesbet has three children of her own who graduated from ISKL. She started working at ISKL in 2004.

Darren Long '02

Middle School Physical Education

Darren, a Malaysian citizen, returned to ISKL to teach High School Physical Education after completing two undergraduate degrees in Health and Physical Education at the Australian College of Physical Education.

Haw Yinn Wai


Haw Yinn is second generation ISKL staff – her mother Dixie Wai worked at ISKL for 40 years from 1965 when ISKL first opened! She completed a Bachelors of Business at Curtin University in Western Australia. She has been working with the Admissions team since 2013. She relishes travelling and the interaction with our multicultural international community.

Ika Azwa Muzamal

Talent & Culture Development Lead

After graduating from ISKL in 2007, Ika was awarded a full scholarship from the Securities Commission of Malaysia to read Law in the UK. After Law School, she returned to Malaysia and worked at the Commission followed by a local infrastructure company, before taking on the role of Talent and Culture Development Lead at ISKL in 2019.

Muhammad Mushamir Mustafa

Advancement Manager

From the Class of 2010, Mushamir is a story-teller who is well-known in Malaysia for his social media platform, Humans of Kuala Lumpur. He studied International Relations with French and has worked as a journalist and in corporate communications and affairs in Malaysia, Sudan and Thailand. Mushamir joined ISKL in 2020 as Advancement Manager.

Jennab Zulkifly

HS Creativity, Activity, Service Advisor 

Jennab works directly with ISKL IB students in her role as HS CAS Advisor. Having co-captained the Malaysian Women’s Touch Football team in 2019, she also brings incredible skill and knowledge to her other role of Assistant Varsity Touch Coach. Jennab studied International Business Management in Paris, and worked in sports management before joining ISKL in 2019.
