ISKL mascots

Our state-of-the-art facilities provide a safe and supportive environment for athletes to train and achieve their goals. Our sports field has officially received certification from both FIFA and World Rugby, making it one of the few in Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia to achieve this prestigious dual accreditation.

FIFA and World Rugby Certification

The full-sized rugby and soccer pitch is part of ISKL’s world-class track and field facility, which includes a regulation 400-meter, 8-lane track. The newly upgraded synthetic turf field, featuring natural infill, meets the highest international standards and is used by professional clubs and leading international schools worldwide.

ISKL’s mascot, the Panther, symbolizes camaraderie at all sporting events, cheering on students, faculty, and staff. Our field sports teams proudly compete as the ISKL Panthers, while our swim team is known as the Aqua Panthers.

Complementing our certified sports field, ISKL’s athletic amenities include an Aquatics Centre, softball and football fields, tennis courts, an indoor fitness center, and climbing walls.

Whether students aspire to university athletics or simply staying active, our program helps every athlete reach their full potential.

IASAS Conference

The  Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asia Schools (IASAS) traces its origins back to the fall of 1982, stemming from athletic competitions among several international schools in Southeast Asia.

Notably, the Singapore American School (SAS) and International School Bangkok (ISB) engaged in the Singapore-Bangkok Games, an annual multi-sport event inaugurated in the spring of 1962.

ISKL requested to participate in the tournament in 1980, resulting in what was then called the Triangular Games. About this time, the notion of organizing an international school athletic conference began to take shape.

The story goes that in 1981 then ISKL Head of School, Gail Shoppert, along with counterparts from SAS and JIS brought the idea to reality. Soon, Athletics Directors Al Daniel & Dave Hagan from ISKL and those from the other schools would come together to plan what we now formally call IASAS.

The first events included ISB, ISKL, JIS, and SAS and were held in October 1982. International School Manila (ISM) joined the conference the very next year, while Taipei American School (TAS) joined the group in 1986, creating the six-school conference that has flourished ever since.

Cultural Conventions such as dance, Model United Nations and forensics, among others, were incorporated in addition to an athletics conference to provide co-curricular competitions that encouraged the passions of all types of students. IASAS is still evolving, in the 2021-2022 school year, a Service convention was introduced.

Over the years, various activities were added to the agenda, and today the wide-ranging IASAS activities include:

  • Cross-Country
