In the workplace, we often form bonds that go beyond professional collaboration. These connections shape our daily experiences, inspire our growth, and leave lasting imprints on our lives. Today, with heavy hearts, we remember and celebrate the life of our dear colleague and friend, John Thomas, who recently passed away on June 14, 2024.
From August 10, 1992, John demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment to ISKL, spanning a remarkable 24-year journey. He became an indispensable pillar of the High School Science Department throughout his tenure, leaving an enduring impression with his boundless passion for education and relentless work ethic.
John’s influence at ISKL extended far beyond the classroom. He was a true leader, actively involved in numerous associations and initiatives that enriched the lives of both students and staff. His leadership shone brightly in his supervision of the Habitat for Humanity student club, where he not only inspired students to travel and build houses for the underprivileged in 9 countries but also instilled a sense of pride and inspiration in the entire ISKL community.
John also led the ISKL Staff Association, advocating for better salary and benefits packages and ensuring his colleagues were well-supported and recognized. His organizational skills were evident in the successful school annual dinners and staff annual trips, events that fostered camaraderie and strengthened our community’s bonds.
John’s enthusiasm for life extended beyond his professional duties. He was an avid participant in faculty football and frequently organized hiking activities, sharing his love for fitness with his colleagues. His dedication to physical health—working out in the gym five times a week—was not just a personal choice but an inspiration to those around him to embrace an active lifestyle.
John was not just a colleague but a friend to many. His warm and inclusive nature, his ability to build lifelong friendships, and his dedication to creating a welcoming environment at ISKL went beyond professional boundaries. His leadership and dedication were not confined to the school grounds, as he organized weekend football matches and served as a respected Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) Leader in his church community.
John’s legacy at ISKL is unwavering commitment, inspirational leadership, and a deep sense of community. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, and his contributions to ISKL will continue to inspire and guide future generations, giving us hope for the future.
