In Loving Memory of Lynette MacDonald

In Memoriam-Lynette

It is with sadness that we remember and honor the life of our beloved colleague and friend, Lynette MacDonald, who passed away on November 5, 2023, in Brisbane, Australia, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Lynette was not just the former Director of Development and Alumni Engagement at ISKL from 2019 to 2021 but also a beacon of inspiration for our school community. Her tireless efforts to foster connections among alumni students through events such as the first Alumni Forum, Alumni Black Box Conversations, ISKL’s 55 Years Young 55th Anniversary celebrations, the Royal Selangor Pewter Panthers, the 2020 Utopian Vision Reunion, Night of the Notables Gala Reunion, and creating the first alumni e-magazine, Selamanya, left an indelible mark on our alumni. Her commitment to our school’s values and legacy ensured that the bonds formed within our school continued to thrive long after graduation.

Lynette was also a passionate advocate for sustainability and led numerous initiatives within the school to promote environmental awareness and responsibility. From spearheading green projects such as the Community Edible Garden and the CAS Office Green Wall and incorporating sustainability for graduating seniors, such as the sustainable tags and locks for the Class of 2021, her efforts inspired colleagues, parents, and students in our community to adopt more sustainable practices. She even brought a sustainability consultant, Harbir Gill, to work with students, faculty, and staff on curriculum development and classroom and community projects. Her unwavering commitment to creating a greener future left a profound and lasting impact on our school’s culture, inspiring us all to continue in her work.

In addition to her contributions to sustainability, Lynette played a pivotal role in securing funding for the Development and Inspiration Fund projects and campaigns. Her fundraising efforts were instrumental in improving school facilities, such as the Kanopi Elementary Rooftop Playground, that enriched the learning experience for all students. We are deeply grateful for her dedication to these initiatives, which demonstrated her unwavering commitment to the school’s continuous growth and excellence, and we will always remember and respect her contributions.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lynette’s family, and we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will always be a part of our ISKL community.
