Service has always been at the heart of what it means to be a Panther. From ISKL’s earliest days—when Peace Corps members shaped the school’s foundation—to supporting Vietnamese refugees in the 1970s, building homes with Habitat for Humanity, GAP service trips, and engaging with community service partners today, the spirit of giving defines our community.
Guided by our vision to Know Yourself, Care for All, and Create a Better World, Panthers—past and present—continue to embody these values. Check out how Alumni faculty like Sally Pubrick Illek have carried the torch of service beyond ISKL, inspiring future generations to follow suit.
This commitment to service is exemplified yearly on Giving Tuesday, the international day of service and giving. On December 3, 2024, ISKL celebrated its third Giving Tuesday with an initiative that rallied our community to create meaningful change.
Giving Tuesday 2024: Supporting Causes That Matter
This year, ISKL’s Giving Tuesday had two key goals:
- Support ISKL’s Community Service Partners
We hosted a fundraising fair on campus where our High School service council’s partners raised awareness for their causes, sold handmade goods, and collected donations of money and essential items. - Fund the ISKL Pathways Scholarship
Donations from this year’s campaign were dedicated entirely to the ISKL Pathways Scholarship, a needs-based academic scholarship providing life-changing opportunities to deserving Malaysian students each year, starting in Grade 9.
This year, we introduced one of our newest Pathways Scholars, Amirthen S. (‘28), and invited alumni to reflect on their ISKL experience and contribute to this initiative.
Reaching New Heights: A Community Effort
Over the years, we’ve raised an incredible RM235,000 for the ISKL Pathways Scholarship, bringing us closer to our RM500,000 goal. On Giving Tuesday, generous donors helped us raise RM12,450 towards our RM20,000 target. While we are still RM7,550 short of our goal, every contribution matters.
If you haven’t donated yet, there’s still time! Our Giving Tuesday donation portal remains open through December 31, 2024. Remember, no amount is too small. Our service and sustainability motto says it best: No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.
Panthers Give: Small Actions, Big Impact
This year, we also launched Panthers Give, a donation drive where ISKL faculty and staff teamed up to collect goods for our community service partners. The results were nothing short of inspiring:
What We Achieved Together
- Food Staples: 105.7 kg of rice, 25.8 kg of cooking oil, 14 kg of flour, and more.
- Household Essentials: 16 kg of detergent powder, 6.1 liters of bleach, and additional cleaning supplies.
- Educational Supplies: 1,090 exercise books, 96 colored pencils, and 10 back-to-school kits.
- Technology: 10 laptops, two keyboards, one stand fan, and more.
Over 2,400 items were donated, benefiting eight community service partners.
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who contributed, whether by donating goods or sorting and distributing them. Your efforts exemplify ISKL’s commitment to creating a better world.

As we reflect on this year’s Giving Tuesday, we are reminded of the profound impact our community can achieve when we come together. Whether we contribute to the Pathways Scholarship, donate items to Panthers Give, or simply embody the values instilled in us as Panthers, every action matters.
