1. Policy for Admission/Exclusion:
Students applying for admission must complete all admission procedures before being considered for admission. The school reserves the right to exclude students or to require special supplementary measures at parental expense. Exclusion of students may occur before students enroll or at any time after enrollment. Students who fall into certain categories, including but not limited to the following, may be excluded by the Head of School:
- Students who require a significant modification of ISKL's instructional program.
- Students who have educational disabilities that require services not provided by ISKL.
- Students who are not benefiting from the academic program due to lack of interest or effort, persistent behavior problems, or failure to maintain a satisfactory grade average.
- Students who do not adhere to the policies, rules, procedures, regulations and Student Discipline Code of ISKL.
- Students for whom there has not been full disclosure of educational records at the time of admission.
- New enrollments in the High School will not be granted credit if the admission is within 20 school days of the end of the academic year.
2. Students with limited ability in English:
ISKL may admit students with limited ability in English subject to consideration of the following: past academic performance, results of an English language proficiency test and space available in the appropriate grade level and/or English as a Second Language (ESL) program. Admission criteria will differ in the different divisions of the school.
Students entering Grades 8 who require Level I ESL classes will only be admitted within the first 10 days of the beginning of the academic year.
All High School Level 4 ESL students will start in Grade 9 or 10. Students who require Level I 4 ESL classes and are older than age 16 will not be admitted.
3. Prep Junior Admission:
In order to qualify for entrance to the Prep Junior, a student must be four years of age by October 1st of the year of entrance.
4. Prep Senior Admission:
Students enrolling into Prep Senior must be five years of age by October 1st of the school year of enrollment.
5. First Grade Admission:
In order to qualify for entrance to the first grade, a student must be six years of age by October 1st of the year of entrance.
6. Admission/Transfer to Next School Division:
Admission to one school division does not guarantee admission/transfer to the next school division. Admission/transfer to the next school division is subject to the absolute discretion of the Head of School, acting upon the advice of the respective principals and Admissions Committee.
7. Part-time Students:
The school shall accept part-time students only under very limited circumstances. Each case will be evaluated on an individual basis by the Admissions Committee. |
