INTRODUCTION

Established in 1965, the International School of Kuala Lumpur was the first school with an American curriculum in Malaysia. It was also the first fully accredited international school in Malaysia. Over the years, ISKL has built its outstanding international reputation by balancing sound tradition for academic excellence with innovative approaches to teaching, learning and expanding technology.

ISKL is a private, not for profit, parent-governed school accredited in the United States through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and internationally through the Council of International Schools (CIS).  ISKL has no shareholders. We pay no dividends. Our only business is the education of your children.

At ISKL, learning does not stop with academics but encompasses social, emotional and moral development. We offer a well-rounded educational program for our students to excel and lead well-rounded quality lives outside of the classrooms.

Its American-based curriculum and program covers:

Elementary School
(Pre-Reception through grade 5)
Middle School
(Grade 6 through Grade 8)
High school
(Grade 9 through Grade 12)

Among the programs offered are the High School Diploma, The International Baccalaureate Diploma and Advanced Placement Courses.

ISKL provides high quality education especially for expatriate children residing with their families in Kuala Lumpur. More than 1500 students attend ISKL from more than 60 countries. ISKL’s faculty comprises highly qualified and experienced individuals with over two thirds of them holding degrees at Masters and Doctorate level. An experienced staff assists the faculty and administration and contributes to the successful daily operation of the school. In view of our diverse student population, our programs have been designed to nurture our students’ appreciation of other cultures.

Key to the school’s success is the active involvement of all members of the school community. The Board of Directors, which sets the policy of the school, is composed of parents elected by the parent community. Parents also volunteer through the Parent-Teacher Association and support the wide variety of after-school activities and other special programs throughout the year.

In addition to the above, ISKL families can maintain close contact online with the school from home through the ISKL Online/BBS services. This online link is simple to use and allows parents to obtain daily updates with the latest news from school. It also enables quick and timely communication with teachers, principals, and headmaster or with other members of the school community.

ISKL is a place where the interaction of students, faculty and families creates an energetic and invigorating learning environment. ISKL students have many opportunities to engage in challenging academic programs as well as extensive interscholastic athletics and co-curricular activities. ISKL is truly the first step to a lifetime of learning.

Welcome to our school!
