High School Highlights by Mr. Grant Millard
 High School Principal

IB AP Exams
For many of IB students the journey is nearly over as we head towards the final weeks of their exams. For these students it will be the culmination of many years of consistent hard work and dedication. For our first year IB students taking the opportunity to sit an early exam it eases the forthcoming load of their second year studies. We wish all students success during this very important time and look forward to the final release of results in early July.

End of Semester Exams
The exams will take place on May 27th, and May 31st and June 1st and 2nd, with a makeup day on June 3rd. With the end of semester rapidly approaching we would like to remindparents that all students are required to attend final exams that are scheduled for their classes.  There are no early exams given but students who miss a scheduled exam can attend the final exam make up day on the Thursday, June 3.  Alternatively a make up exam can be scheduled at the beginning of next semester but students will be given an incomplete grade (INC) until the exam is re-sat.  The final exam or assessments counts a maximum of 20% of the total course grade. Parents and students may access personalized exam information via PowerSchool.

Exam Dress Code
For the month of May all seniors may wear free dress but they must adhere to ‘Tag Day’ Dress code that also requires appropriate footwear but which does not include flip flops. All other students sitting exams may also wear free dress that adheres to ‘Tag Day’ dress code but for exam days only.

High School Awards Assembly
We would like to extend an invitation to all high school parents and friends of students to the forthcoming high school Awards Assemblies.  For Grades 9, 10, &11 the end of year academic awards presentations will take place on the morning of Friday, June 4th, the last day of school. This ceremony is scheduled to begin at around 9.30 AM.

The seniors will receive their end of year academic awards in a special assembly on Wednesday 26th of May at 11:00 AM. This assembly will take the form of a farewell to our seniors as well as to any students who are moving on to other schools in the forthcoming year.  It will be followed by the first graduation rehearsal so all senior students are required to attend both events.

Report Cards
Exams will conclude on Thursday June 3rdwith the ‘exam make up block’ and teachers will finalize grades by Friday 4th June. Only students who need to sit a make-up exam are required to attend school on June3rd. Once the exams are finalized teachers will prepare final report cards for parents and students. The report card will show performance in three key learning domains – Knowledge and Understanding; Application and Performance; and Process Habits and Attitudes. The exam grade will be reflected within the final grade for each class. Reports will be posted in the mail the week after school concludes. Should any parent require a report early because they are leaving ISKL please contact the high school office to make appropriate arrangements.

Summer Programs
Now is the time to investigate and apply for summer programs that are designed to enhance your knowledge and abilities in your areas of interest.  Academic Programs, Language Schools, Computer Camps, Leadership Camps, Summer Camps, Adventure programs are all good ways to spend a part of your summer and show your prospective universities that you spent your time constructively.  We have dozens of brochures and guides about these programs in the counseling office or you can go to the following website for a good collection of links to information websites: http://www.internationalcounselor.org/summer2/Summer_Omnibus/Omnibus.html
